CRUISE DESTINATION
Aruba
THE QUICK READ
What Aruba adds to a cruise
Aruba is dry, windy, and visually different from the lush eastern islands. Oranjestad is easy to explore, while the best-known beaches and rugged north coast require taxis, buses, tours, or a rental with enough time to return.
PORT BY PORT
Where the ship may take you
CRUISE PORT
Oranjestad
A colorful, dry-climate island port with beaches, desert landscapes, and easy independent transportation.
Make this port day work
The city center begins near the cruise berths. Eagle Beach is about 10–15 minutes by taxi; Palm Beach 15–25; the rugged north coast requires more time.
Walk Oranjestad after an early taxi to Eagle or Palm Beach, or use the public bus only with the current schedule and a return backup.
Use a proper 4x4 tour for the rough north coast and natural-pool areas; an ordinary rental car is not the right tool.
Leave Palm Beach 90 minutes early and north-coast tours about two hours early.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
Plan the day before leaving home
Do town last
Use the cooler morning for a beach or island tour, then explore Oranjestad near the ship after returning.
Choose a beach by personality
Eagle Beach is broad and relaxed; Palm Beach is busier with resorts and water sports. Neither requires an island-wide tour.
Rent only for the right route
Ordinary cars suit paved sights. The rougher north coast needs an appropriate vehicle or guided tour, not optimism in a compact rental.

FINAL CHECK
Before committing to the day
- Confirm the exact berth. The destination name may conceal a remote facility, tender, or different side of the island.
- Calculate usable time.Subtract tendering, transfers, security, and a safe return margin from the published port call.
- Reserve what can sell out.Small boats, limited vehicles, timed admissions, and specialist guides deserve priority.
- Keep the return under your control.Save meeting details offline and know the backup transportation before moving away from the port.
